In 2012, Kabam, Inc., having purchased the necessary rights from Paramount Pictures, launched its free-to-play ("FTP"), massively multiplayer online role-playing game ("MMORPG"), called "The Godfather: Five Families" ("TG:FF"). To date, there are forty (40) unique game server "universes" -- which are predominantly English-language based, but which also include German, Italian, French and Spanish language servers.
TG:FF belongs to the "free-to-play" model of server based strategy games. But, like all others in this particular category of MMORPG game, revenue is derived from offering players "premium content." Players exchange their real world money for in-game "diamonds," that are used to purchase various virtual items and speed-ups.
